Welcome to the Maker's Journal

Welcome to the Maker's Journal.
This will be the place I post musings, passing fancies, and maybe, once in a while,  a deep thought, about the process of being a maker.  Simply put, I live to make.  A day without knitting is hardly worth living (ok, so I'm exaggerating a little).  But truthfully, when family or  life obligations require me to be otherwise engaged, I find I miss that haptic experience of having two sticks and some string in my hands and manipulating them  by motor skills that I have practiced for a lifetime.
The last couple years have begun integrating surface design with my knitted designs.  The textile I knit becomes a platform for fascinating  and various forms unlike anything I have ever done before.  The results are striking abstract arrangements that  surprise me with their "rightness" ; they just work, in a way I did not, and could not have, imagined.  It is a kind of synergy, where the result is greater than the sum of the parts.  And it is oh--so--much fun!

Haptic     adjective
       1.  relating to or based on the sense of touch
       2.  characterized by a predilection for the sense of touch:  a haptic person.
