Splendid Yarnover:  Bold, Artistic, Original...

Featuring original, wearable fiber art, each piece offered by Splendid Yarnover is a unique design and is personally handcrafted by the artist.  The focus is color and texture: for each project Judith composes a spirited palette and  enhances it with intriguing textures.  These wraps and scarves are functional, versatile, and easy to wear.

I am thrilled to share that two of my works have been chosen for the St Louis Artists' Guild summer exhibition It's Not the Heat, It's the Humidity.   The exhibit runs from June 7-August 4, 2013 at the Guild location 2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton MO 63105. This is an all-media, all-content, curated exhibition, juried by guest curator Paula Katz, Director and Curator of the Herron Galleries at the Herron School of Art and Design, University of Indiana, Indianopolis, IN.

Showing concurrently in adjoining galleries, are three one-person shows, by Soledad Van Emden, Sarah Bernstein and Laura Bailey, and in the childrens' gallery is work from Our Lady of the Pillar.

Here is a glimpse of one of my works.  It is named "Summer in the City".  Hint: it is made from PAPER!  The variegated lavender and dark purple fiber is Japanese katsura linen paper (manufactured for textile use); the grape and navy solid fibers are Belgian linen. The garment is  wearable, and is dry cleanable.  Both of my works in the show are for sale.

Visit the exhibition to see the complete show.  And for all my St Louis friends and customers, if you let me know by email or text when you are going to the show, I will try to meet you there.  I am honored and excited to be included in this exhibit of very fine work, and I would love to share it with you.

I have also been accepted to participate in the Greater St Louis Artists Association (GSLAA) Guest Exhibition at the newly opening Clayton Fine Art Gallery.  The Gallery opens its doors June 20, 2013, at 21 N. Bemiston in Clayton, (between Maryland and Forsyth Blvd).  Its hours are Thursday through Saturday, 11-6 pm, and Sunday 12-5 pm, closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.   The Gallery will feature resident and guest artists, as well as guest exhibitions.

I am very excited about this opportunity to appear at the Clayton Gallery.  And again, for all my St Louis friends and customers, if you let me know when you are visiting I will try to meet you there. I would love to share this  fine gallery with you.

New Work Coming Soon...

My new collection featuring silk, linen and cotton wraps is getting rave reviews from customers and artists alike.  I am very busy with new designs, which will be added to the web site before the Fall season kicks off in late August.  Check back often to see new work added to the collections.

Acknowledgements

Once again I must thank my dear friend Noelle Visconti for her stunning photography.  Seeing my work through her camera lens is an astonishing revelation. My young friends, Challen and Cayla, are the best models any designer could hope for; their approach is invariably enthusiastic, charming, and full of fun.  I also want to thank David Cerven for allowing us to use Studio Altius, his functional and well-equipped place of business. The high quality of these photos owes much to his expert advice. Lastly, I wish to thank my friend Julie, who has been both a willing model and a college intern. I owe much of my success to her energetic marketing.
